The Ottawa Board of Education notes that, “Research shows a direct correlation between
arts experiences and enhanced student achievement…students can and do learn through
images, textures, making models, role playing, sculpting, painting, designing and
singing…Optimal instructional methods and programs incorporate the arts.”

Course Expectations

Course Expectations

Expectations

The way you use your class time affects the quality of your artwork. Specific required criteria will be introduced with each project and the grade assessment will be based on this criteria.

Grades are based on project work, homework and classroom work habits as they pertain to project criteria.  Work habits include the following behavior expectations.

1)Be in your seat, and ready to work when the bell rings. Attendance is important and directly related to your success.
2)Follow directions, and use time wisely. No one should unnecessarily disrupt the learning environment.
3)Treat yourself and others with dignity and respect. When you are getting equipment you must do so in an orderly manner. Running, pushing, grabbing, etc. is NOT acceptable. The facilities must be shared ~show courtesy at all times.
4)Stay at your own working area unless you are asked to move about. Always ask permission to leave the classroom during class time.
5)Take care of materials. Each student must take responsibility for the equipment used. It is to be handled properly, cleaned when finished with and returned to its proper place.
6)Keep your working area clean and tidy ~ report any untidiness at your area if it is there when you arrive. Everyone participates in the cleanliness of the classroom. (Rotation of monitors and group clean up sessions) After cleaning up sit at your working area until the bell rings.
7)NOTHING AIRBORNE AT ANYTIME.
8)NO cell phones.

Work hard ~ be creative!
Failure to comply with these expectations will result in classroom or school “community service” and/or school consequences as outlined in the DPSS Student Code of Conduct.

I try to be a truthful artist and I try to show a level of courage. I enjoy that. I'm a messenger.
Keep your love of nature, for that is the true way to understand art more and more. Vincent Van Gogh
I don't believe in an art that is not born out of man's need to open his heart. Edvard Munch
Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life. Pablo Picasso
Art is not a handicraft, it is the transmission of feeling the artist has experienced Leo Nikolaevich
